Greater Tuna -
The Showboat Theatre Friday & Saturday 8pm, Sunday at 2pm
The Showboat Community Theatre is sponsoring “Greater Tuna”, a
two-act play, to be presented in May at the theater. The local,
all-volunteer cast is in rehearsals now for this delightfully
entertaining comedy. Set in Tuna, Texas, “the third smallest town in
Texas”, the story follows a variety of local characters through a
typical small town day. The show will be directed by Karen LaBoube and
coordinated by Steve Meyer of rural Berger. The cast includes
Hermann residents Ray and Kathi Ham, Sheri Hausman, Joey Los, Valerie
Pearce, Adelyn Wagner, Jose Bugarin, Peggy Clark, Steve Mangram, and
Leroy Schwartz. Tony Carosella of New Haven and Steve Meyer are also
featured. Performances will be at 8:00 p.m. Friday and Saturday
nights May 9, 10, 16 and 17. There will be a special Mothers’ Day
Matinee at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, May 11. Tickets are available at the
Hermann Visitors Center, 312 Market Street. Tickets are $9 in advance,
or $10 at the door.

Air National Guard Band,
Clara Eitmann Messmer Amphitheatre, Gutenberg between 4th and 5th St,
2pm to 3:30pm
The Guard Band will feature half jazz music and patriotic music,
because it is Arm Forces Day. The amphitheatre will
feature lawn seating only, bring your lawn chairs or blankets,
bring a picnic lunch to enjoy before performances. The Hermann
Arts Council will present the 2007 program at the Amphitheatre
on Gutenberg Street between Fourth and Fifth Streets.

Citywide 2008 58th Anniversary Celebration Maifest
Maifest weekend begins Friday evening at the
Hermann City Park, and the evening is traditionally a homecoming night
of sorts, a time for Hermannites to gather for music and camaraderie,
while youngsters flock to the carnival rides. The carnival
rides, which are sponsored by the Hermann Jaycees, will operate at the
lower city park. The action on the Ferris wheel and
merry-go-ride starts at 6pm until 10pm. A beer & wine
garden will be open Friday night at the city park from 5pm until
Midnight. There will be DJ entertainment at the City
Park starting at 8pm to Midnight. Admission charge.
